In 1992 I set off for the high desert of northern Los Angeles to study Theology at the Masters College under John MacArthur, but despite the wonderful opportunity I had, I was unable to flourish in the typical classroom environment. Like many would-be students, the ability to digest 1 - 2 hour lectures while carrying a full 17 credit hour load with the homework, projects, and tests was just not manageable.
I had no problem learning material, but listening to instructors drone on and on, and spin out an endless amount of homework was just a ridiculous burden on me. I wondered how this related to being a disciple of Jesus. I wondered if Paul gave Timothy homework everyday, or more likely did he teach and then expect a performance review on how the teaching was applied.
I understand a little bit better what being a disciple is all about now. Education is important, but even more the application of education is where the proof actually lies. This is why I'm so thankful that Christian Leaders Institute brings education to a level that is flexible with your time and your money so that your education is tailored around your ability and schedule.
After only 2 1/2 years I graduated in May of 2021 with a GPA of 3.87 with 162 credit hours earning my Bachelor of Divinity Degree graduating with honors of Magna Cum Laude. I never thought I would be able to finish college, but CLI put my goal back in reach.
While my primary goal is completed, there is still so much to learn, and I will add to this list as time goes on.
In addition to my studies at CLI, I have completed 120 hours of OSH training to become a Certified Occupational Safety and Health Professional, and earning my Aquaponics Master Certificate from Nelson and Pade.
In the Fall of 2024 our local church was inundated with requests for counseling, and I was grieved that our pastor was being overwhelmed by so many responsibilities. I enrolled in BCC's certification courses to become a better equipped counselor so that someday soon I can come alongside our local church to give counsel as needed within the broader category of discipleship.
In the Summer of 2025, after more than 25 years in the IT industry, I decided to enroll at Olivet Nazarene University to finally pursue my Bachelors of Computer Science in Cybersecurity as well.
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Occupational Safety and Health Professional
While I am glad for all of my accomplishments, these things are all for the glory of God and the service of His church!
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
Philippians 2:12-18 (ESV)
