Why Pasture Raised Livestock Is Important To Climate Change

Climate change is one of the hottest topics (puns are welcome here), in politics today. While many globalists would like to see the reduction in fossil fuel usage and decrease in overall population, no one is looking seriously at why our climate is changing, or in other words, what is the root cause. Additional carbon in our atmosphere is recorded, and we know that the burning of fossil fuel releases carbon, but the real question remains, is the burning of fossil fuel responsible for the majority of the carbon in our atmosphere or not. I am in agreement with Allan Savory that it is not the carbon emissions from our automobiles and factories, but rather the carbon loss from mismanaged soils

Where Does Our Help Come From?

When trouble comes to us, and we're not sure where to turn to or what the next step is, where does our help come from? Psalm 121 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore. It's easy to flip out a verse like "

Cognitive Distortion, Physiological Imbalance, or Mental Handicap

In my last article I mentioned those who do not have Mental Handicap's but do have Cognitive Distortions, and I wanted to talk about different things that affect mental health, because not all things are as they seem in a world that is quick to flip out a prescription to patients instead of treating root causes. A Word About Doctors Before I begin, many of you who read this post will say, what does Brother Mitchel know about Mental Health? He's not a "professional"... Let me ask you a common sense question. Where is the money? "What does money have to do with being professional in the field of mental health or health in general", you may ask. Doctors and pharmaceuticals do not make money

Why The Discipleship Center Instead Of The Homeless Shelter?

When I thought of homeless shelters, I pictured the soup kitchens after World War 1, or the refugee shelters after a big disaster. I started working at our local homeless shelter in 2015, and what I found was much different than what I imagined. What I found were people in various stages of life who were either recently incarcerated, addicted to drugs and alcohol, or mentally unstable to one degree or another. Who should be in the homeless shelter? 2nd Thessalonians 3:6-12 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. For you yourselves know h

What Does Farming Have To Do With Discipleship?

Does it seem strange to you that our ministry is to help those who have not learned to be productive members of society, to help break addictions, to make disciples for Christ, in order to return as productive citizens and missionaries to their community, but what we talk about the most is farming? Life is hard The year was 1992 and I was graduating from High School with no idea what I wanted to do with my life, and no real idea on how to live my life. For years I relied on my parents to tell me what to do and how to do it, and I relied on my teachers to teach me and tell me what was required. Now in college I found out that nobody cares to tell you what to do or when to do it. If you succ

Can You Make Money With Pastured Pork?

So one of the issues with running a ministry to help people is how to feed them. We can crank out a lot of vegetables in a short amount of time consistently, and we can product an amount of fish, but it's not enough. One of the ways we are looking into supplementing our food source and income is by producing pastured pork. When I was growing up, my grandfather raised pigs in large pens and he would rotate them through the breeding phase all the way to market in enclosed pens, or large farm yards and feed them exclusively on factory produced feeds. However, just like the pastured eggs, the quality of your pork can be increased by allowing them to forage in pastures. Lets look at a realistic

Can You Make Money With Pastured Eggs?

One of the best ways to get Omega-3 fatty acids in your diet is through pastured eggs. Not to be confused with pasteurized eggs, which I'm not even sure is a thing. Pastured eggs is where chickens get up to 1/3 of their diet naturally from grasses, weeds, small plants, bugs and worms found in the pasture. I had never heard of such a thing as pastured eggs or chickens before. When I thought of chickens, I only knew of having the small farm chicken coops and chickens running around in the pen or the factory chicken operation with thousands upon thousands of chickens in a building that never see the light of day, but when I heard of the chicken tractor, I knew that this made more sense for a

Healthy Eating For Addiction Recovery

What is the one thing that all addicts have in common? Whether they are addicted to alcohol, drugs, smoking, food... our pleasure and reward center has been hijacked and our food tastes in early or even continuing recovery is like that of teenagers. The preference of refined sugars, unhealthy oils, and stimulants have ruined our gut health and in order to break our addictions, we have to also break our unhealthy eating habits. Have you ever noticed that homeless people like to mill around at the fast food joints in town? You never see a homeless person hanging around the farmers market or fruit and vegetable stand with a sign that says "Will work for fruits and vegetables" do you? Damages

Is There Money In Aquaponics?

So one of the questions I get is, "Can you actually make money with Aquaponics?" The answer is Maybe. People have made money off of all sorts of things. Fixing shoes, painting cars, tutoring students, music lessons, ect. the list goes on and on. I actually had an idea in 1993 while in college of having a fast food delivery system, my only problem was with the risk, how to collect payment before purchasing the fast food and delivering it. Now if you do a web search for fast food delivery service, you'll see that many businesses have overcome this risk and are doing exactly what I had thought of so many years ago. Now on to how much money can be made with Aquaponics... There are a lot of va

What kind of Vegetables are we talking about?

So we saw what kind of fish are grown in an Aquaponics system, but what kind of vegetables are we looking at growing? For many people in the Western world, our diets consist of highly processed grains, sterilized dairy products, high fructose corn syrup, and meats that are produced with antibiotcs, steroids, and fed diets of the same processed grains. What we're left with is is a nation full of people who are or have Overweight Malnurished Attention deficit Stimulant dependant High blood pressure Chronic fatigue Prone to inflamation Underdeveloped Immune Systems In a constant state of a near diabetic condition How do we combat these situations? We turn back time nutritionally. We can not g

Something's Fishy About Aquaponics

So one of the most important components of Aquaponics is fish.  You can do Aquaponics with almost any kind of fish from your pet store gold

What is Aquaponics?

So for many of my readers and people who hear me speak, they hear the word Aquaponics and they have no idea what I'm talking about. Aquaponics is a soil-less growing system that marries Aquaculture and Hydroponics in a closed loop symbiotic farming solution. Wooooooooo!!!!!  That was a mouthfull, but let's break it down a little bit. Aquaculture: is the growing of fish in an artificial environment like tanks or enclosed pools.  This requires intensive water changes of up to 60% each week and the effluent waste water needs to be treated before introducing back into any leechway or public waterway. Hydroponics: is the growing of vegetables or other plants like marijuana in a nutrient rich wate
